Creeping under the skin: manifestations of client violence towards social workers in Swedish individual and family services

Client violence can affect social workers negatively. In this paper, we explore what the experience of client entails for who exercise public authority in Swedish individual and family services. The empirical data are based on qualitative interviews with (n = 19) analysed using inductive thematic analysis power theory. results show that experienced physical non-physical violence, often perpetrated through several related incidents. Clients’ use was mainly reaction to workers’ authority. Organization delivery services seemed create friction agitated clients, while putting at risk violence. Social situated two arenas, i.e. professional private arena, perceived aggravation as it transcended boundary into their life. paper highlights importance organizational culture values promotes aspirations, dignity wellbeing clients workers.
